BR 1-06: How Mountains Are Made

This time I read this book. The reason why I chose this book is that this book cover is nice and I was impressed. Immediately I wanted to know how mountains are made when I found this book. This book is kind of picture book, but it contains a lot of explanations about how mountains are made.

Millions of years ago, mountains were a flat under an ocean. All sorts of sea animals lived right there. But that was a looooooong time ago. The earth is always changing, so mountains are worn away by wind, rain, and ice. Now mountains formed where there were no mountains before. Mountains in different parts of the world look very different from one another. For example, some have sharp, others are more rounded, still others are block shaped, and a few are shaped like tall cones. Why Mountains in different parts of the world look very different from one another? It's because in different parts of the earth the outer shell moves in different ways.

Most volcanic mountains are formed in places where one plate pushes under another. In fiery blasts, magma is thrown onto the earth's surface. It cools and hardens, and mountains are built. Some mountains have been around for hundreds of millions of years, and others are still being built up right now. The highest mountain in the world, Mt. Everest, is younger mountain, and it's still being pushed up higher. According to this book, Mt. Everest may be growing as much as two inches each year!

I recommend you to read this book because this is really useful and interesting! You can know how mountains are made easily with some pictures.
